15th Annual Miracle Kids of South Texas Football 2019

(band music) – [Cheerleaders] Go Big Red! – This is actually the fifth year in a row that Liberty Middle
School participates with Miracle Kids of South Texas. And giving our students an opportunity and other kids with disability to be able to play
together and come together on this great event, on this day. – It’s really special to me, especially seeing all the kids now that they’re getting older and they’re coming to high school with me, it’s really special because you get to see how much they’ve grown. And you know they may not be with us in the classroom but I still go see them and I get to see them grow, not only in their education
but in their life as well. – Go, go. – I came here to just
come out, have some fun, just give these kids
the time of their lives. Give them something that they don’t have an opportunity to do. He’s having a lot of fun,
we’re having a lot of fun, it’s just a great time. – Teammates gonna score a touchdown, then you’re gonna score a touchdown. (excited shouting) Ready, ready? – Just seeing the smile on their face, seeing him have a great time, it just makes my day so much better. Oh, yeah! – We have a lot of students that they participate with
our Team Discovery students, which our are students with special needs. They come in, we have a lot
of our student council kids and just their peers that they
come from elementary with. They come in knowing, you know
growing up with their peers so they come in and
they help these students that are not able to do
exactly what they can. But they come in and they help ’em, they help ’em grow, they help them, they help them with the social skills, you know with socializing with peers their own age and making friends. – It’s really awesome to see that they have the programs
for all the students, that they’re not left out and that they have opportunities available for everyone here in the district. I actually do want to go into pediatrics and I wanna work with special needs kids as well, because of everything
that I’ve been doing. – The outpour that we have from our general ed kids they come and they tell us, hey when are we having another event, when are you all throwing another event? They love to participate with the kids, they love to interact. And they love to see how much the kids look up to them. Even though they’re their peers they see that they look up to them and they love giving that
feeling of joy to our kids. And I mean our kids our amazing, our general ed kids,
our special needs kids, they’re all amazing. We have an amazing population of kids at Liberty, amazing. – It gives our students the opportunity to be able to be side by
side with some of the kids that otherwise wouldn’t be able to play the game of football, or in any other event. And it also teaches them about caring for one another and being able to help each other. (gentle music)
