Carroll College football hits the field for spring ball

it was cold and cloudy and sure felt like football weather out there today and if you’re in Helena at all this afternoon you might have thought the season had already started on the campus of Carroll College well it’s still a few piles over that are frozen we got to get those removed over there otherwise it’s gonna look like arena football like I’m into that ice on the side but spring football in Montana can always be a tricky thing but the weather couldn’t keep the Saints indoors any longer today as they hit the field for the first practice of spring ball you know it’s good to get out of the weight room in the gym we’ve been in there since late January you know doing running drills footwork drills and then up in the weight room you know three four times a week lifting so it’s good to get out and you know be a football player again so I’ve been inside for a long time and made a lot of adjustments coaching staff players uh changing change what we need to change this offseason to a hopeful have a better spring and a better season so I mean a lot of guys are excited to put a lot of work into this so home it’s kind of the first kind of test run you could say so I mean it’s definitely very exciting I’m very excited and with a few offices and coaching and player changes these first couple of days will be about getting everyone on the same page I just hope we got 11 guys that cleaned up right on offense and level guys our defense and at communication I know on defensive side that’s what we’re going to talk about when we do ask Allie grew if we got a team group I want our guys to communicate one of those areas where communication will be key is on the offensive line which saw a lot of turnover in the off season including bringing over former tight ends alex hoffman and condom agreed to the squad this is pretty similar to the tight end role that I played I blocked a lot coach Pfannenstiel told me a lot that this is this moves faster than it does a tight end which will be interesting to see but other than that I’ve noticed a lot of the same things obviously staying on the offense has helped a lot you understand points and all those things the schemes and all those characteristics of it so it helps it will take some time for this year’s team to fall into place but for now they’re all just happy to be back playing football if you want to check out Carol’s full spring schedule we got it up on our website Montana sports.com
