Football Spring Report – Wide Receivers (04.18.2018)

The countdown is almost over were just two days away from the spring football game and our final position will break down here on go-jacks Comm will feature the wide receivers and Kay Johnson the versatile sophomore says he has enjoy Practices which have helped him improve the rapport with quarterbacks and fine-tune the rest of his game just mastering the technique I mean Arnheim tells it to us every day we’re all just trying to get better Jacob more keys Adam And then the young guys are getting a lot of reps too, so we’re just Trying to get the most out of each rep go hundred percent so Johnson and his fellow receivers have elevated their games to new heights Thanks in part to coach Robert, Arnheim who demands the most out of each individual coach Arnheim is like a big brother to me He pushes all of us I mean There’s no days off. I mean championship effort every day every rep even an individual I mean he’s pushing us the farthest we can go so he’s definitely a great coach And he demands a lot out of us And I think that’s what makes our room so great and where we can go is limitless with him Last year wide receivers for SDSU combined to catch nearly 150 passes covering over 2,000 yards and 26 touchdowns Johnson says what was most pleasing was each guy’s ability to come through in the clutch Catches that helped move the chains as SDSU converted nearly 48 percent of its third down attempts Seventh best in the FCS. I feel like we lived in the moment played in the moment a lot I feel like when someone’s name was called they swore to step up Whether it be wildy Adam Marquis Jacob And then of course Jake so I mean we’re looking to have that same type of impact on the on the deal this year So there’s so much talk ending into this fall about how the jacks will be able to replace receiving threats like Dallas Goddard and Jake Wenatchee each all-americans But Johnson says he’s very confident in the current group of receivers the likes of Adam Anderson Marquis Lewis Jacob Brown and Alex will D combine with Johnson to form a solid veteran core And there’s a crowd of other youngsters ready to prove themselves feel like any of us can be a threat last year I feel like any of us could have produced more We just we all filled our roles really well, and I feel like there’s bigger shoes But there’s I don’t I don’t see any let off Whether it be Marquis Jacob or any of the young guys coming in? Anyone can make a play and I feel like we can fulfill that role even more So I’m excited to see what this next season brings up Johnson was a very valuable weapon on special teams He returned to kickoffs for touchdowns He was also a big factor on offense utilizing the jet sweep This new look Jackrabbit offense might feature more of that with other newcomers having similar skill sets a Dion and Isaiah Hill are doing a great job right now with jet sweeps along with Adam – and Then kickoffs I feel like any of us can really do any role We’re all supportive of each other We’re just we’re being good teammates right now So I mean whatever I can do to help the team and help my brothers is what I’m gonna do for the team the Papillion, Nebraska native was happy with the progression of the offense last year and Johnson says the potential to reach their goals this year and make it to Frisco, Texas is an opportunity He can’t wait for I’m most looking forward to the next season just to see what we what we can do I mean we fell Short last season and none of us are really satisfied I’m really looking forward to being and Frisco and I know 100 percent of the team can say that and that’s the goal for next year so we’re gonna push every day get better and just Work work to get to Frisco because that’s where we want to be at the end of the year You
