TO THE BRAINERD LAKES REGION, THE PIERZ PIONEERS FOOTBALL TEAM WENT UNDEFEATED IN THE REGULAR SEASON FOR THE SECOND STRAIGHT YEAR, OUTSCORING THEIR OPPONENTS BY ALMOST 40 POINTS PER GAME. THEY CRUISED THEIR WAY TO U.S. BANK STADIUM, WINNING EACH OF THEIR FIRST THREE PLAYOFF GAMES BY OVER 38 POINTS. IN THE STATE SEMIS, IN A MATCH-UP WORTHY OF A CHAMPIONSHIP, THE PIONEERS FELL EVENTUAL PREP BOWL CHAMPS ROCHESTER LOURD 25-20. THE BRAINERD-LITTLE FALLS GIRLS HOCKEY WENT 20-4 AND 1 IN THE REGULAR SEASON AFTER BEATING NORTH WRIGHT COUNTY 3-2 IN THE SECTION TITLE GAME. THE WARRIORS HEADED TO STATE. THEY BEAT WHITE BEAR LAKE 4-NOTHING. THEN TOPPED ANDOVER IN THE SEMIS 3-2 IN OVERTIME AND ADVANCED TO THE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME FOR THE FIRST TIME IN SCHOOL HISTORY.
