Miami Hurricanes coach Manny Diaz talks about authenticity in new role

All I know is how to be as myself,
and I think you have to be authentic. That was even when before
you’re a coordinator and the first thing become a coordinator. And so
in the first time become a head coach, I think the one thing that players
can always sniff out is a fake. Someone’s trying to be somebody else. And so now I’ve been very fortunate to
learn from a lot of great head coaches. You steal a lot of great ideas. But same thing when you
put together a defense. You have to be you, cuz they can
tell when you’re not being you. So I mean,
I hang out with the offense more often. I mean, that part has changed and
I root for those guys a lot harder now so. I rooted for them in the past too,
but a lot harder now so. [BLANK_AUDIO]
