St. Aug investigating after pre-game football chant includes n-word

According to St Aug officials, The video appears
to be before THE Brother Martin game.. But upon further investigation, we learned
this was a chant used before… and school leaders say they are shocked and
embarrassed by the language.. Paul Dudley joining us in studio.. Paul, clear this up for us ! THE VIDEO
SHOWS A PRE-GAME RALLYING FOOTBALL CHANT FROM INSIDE THE LOCKER ROOM… IN IT YOU CAN HEAR THE REPEATED USE OF THE
N-WORD FROM MEMBERS OF THE ST. AUGUSTINE HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL TEAM. ONE VIDEO LOOKS TO BE FROM THE OCT. 4TH GAME
AGAINST BROTHER MARTIN…WHERE THEY WORE WHITE JERSEYS… ANOTHER VIDEO APPEARS TO BE BEFORE A DIFFERENT
GAME… WE CAN TELL THE VIDEOS ARE FROM THIS SEASON
BECAUSE PLAYERS ARE WEARING THE “COACH WASH” DECAL ON THEIR HELMETS… MADE SPECIAL FOR THIS YEAR. THE SCHOOL DOES CONFIRM THAT A COACH IS IN

LANGUAGE WOULD BE USED AT ANY SCHOOL EVENT AND DIRECTED TOWARD OUR STUDENT-ATHLETES AND
OPPONENTS. THE WORDS AND ACTIONS OF THE COACH AND THE
PLAYERS FOLLOWING HIS LEAD DO NOT REPRESENT THE VALUES THAT ST. AUGUSTINE HAS EMBODIED FOR MORE THAN SIX DECADES.” NOW — SCHOOL OFFICIALS SAY THEY ARE CONDUCTING
A THOROUGH INVESTIGATION WITH ADMINISTRATION, COACHING STAFF, AND OTHERS WHO WERE PRESENT

  1. Not sure where the other video went with the comments…..but remember the culture in New Orleans is unique especially surrounding football. There's a reason the city has produced the most players in the nfl per capita. To outsiders or those just moving into the city they may be FLABBERGASTED by such language and rhetoric in this video. But someone whose been born and bred in NOLA will tell you this is nothing new, not a big deal and they've probably seen worse at NORD games while laughing at the attention this video is getting.

  2. Strange, in 2010 Bro.martin did a video that was posted on the internet. It depicted St.Aug football players as gorillas… full head masks and arms with SA football.helmets .. NO APOLOGY from them…no one fired…no investigation just quietly removed video from the internet. BUT we have to apologize, investigate, and terminate for using a term thea doesn't even refer to the opposition !!! WTF ?
    WHY ??????

  3. Pathetic! I'm a proud black man and the coach should be fired and never work with children again! And this is a Christian SCHOOL. I guess they forgot about Christ!

  4. My sista boyfriend plays for them. Nothing wrong! Yall acting like yall ain't say it! This is outrageous. I'm buying the shirt 2!

  5. What kind of coach gets his players to use this word,if it would have been a white coach, could you imagine the outcry from the black parents!

  6. Y'all should be ashamed of yourselves for firing this coach… I'm pretty sure that those students say and do worst that what this coach has said… It's a chant to hyoe his team up…. I've known people that went to St Aug and smoke cigarettes and marijuana in the school campus, but no one brought that up…. I feel that the student or whomever recorded this should be kicked off the team also…

  7. Who cares. It's a main stream word used by everyone these days. Doesnt really mean anything to today's youth. It's only the 50 plus who gets offended…

  8. it's called hyping before the game. And its African American kids saying it. we got worse stuff to worry about.. have they heard rap music over the last 25 years

  9. It doesn't matter what other schools do because we have to set the standard for ourselves. Darren Dixon, Tyrone Paine, Tony Biagas,Burton Burns,Keith Jenkins or Lloyd Ozo had more dignity and pride to even think of chanting that type of foolishness with us.

  10. This is so stupid. They are saying black using the n word is bad but whites made that word. It’s power for blacks we claim it because whites used it against now we are claiming the power
now we can’t say it wow imma say it till I die now

  11. They are now controlling us with this stupid mess
did they do all this for all the blacks that got killed but this is so important because blacks used a word that gave whites power but we are taking the power black
    America is stupid

  12. there's that word again…………..BY BLACK PEOPLE………….. you wonder why you are looked at the way you are……… so glad this coach was fired. all these kids should be suspended from the team. In a hundred years IF this word is still around ………THE ONLY PEOPLE WHO KEPT IT AROUND ARE BLACK PEOPLE.

  13. If you played ball then you know football isn’t for nice guys!!!! The same people that are saying negative things about this don’t do anything for the Aug so keep your mouth shut

  14. I think we should be suspended for the football team for saying it but instead of fully firing coach jones, suspend him from the school? Cursing will be in your everyday life, including nigga. So no one should be fired for saying it when it’s not used to discriminate

  15. Technically speaking, the N word ending in “A” is not the same as the one ending in “R”. It has 2 different meanings. The one ending in “A” is slang for black dude in the black community. It’s not said as a derogatory statement.

  16. Can't see how anyone can think that this is acceptable… except people that don't see an issue with their own actions.

  17. Aww really its just a chant get over it. People take things to serious there are more important issues that go on other then a word.

  18. I understand maybe it wasn’t right to have HS students saying that kind of language but this is Football u gotta be hyped before games !

  19. Sounds like it wasn't "nigger" but "nigga," street slang for any potentially person really. See how stupid the so-called "rules" are when you give silly words such power? The guy should never have been fired.

  20. So what… I don't see nothing wrong… I'm quite sure these kids use worse language. Throw this whole video away
