WIU Football takes on #1 ranked NDSU on Homecoming


And now to Western sports where the football team faced a tall task of playing the North Dakota State Bison at Hanson Field Saturday. The Bison have not lost a game in almost two and a half years. We pick it up here tied in the second quarter. It’s running back Chase Morlock who gets popped by Jonathan Rollins, Gavin Ricketts picks it up and Western would get the ball back, but they would turn the ball over right here. Trenton Norvell throwing the pass into double coverage and it’s intercepted by Esley Thorton. North Dakota State would get the football. We move into the second half Western starts hot. Here’s J.C. Baker dashing up the middle for a 34 yard touchdown run and he outs the defenders and would finish the game with 175 yards on 25 carries so a big day for J.C. Baker. Western continues to stall North Dakota State’s attack into the 4th quarter here Kevin Kintzel gets a hand on the field goal to stop the scoring attempt from the Bison. Not too long after, North Dakota State, Kevin Kintzel getting excited after a big stop. Western leading in the 4th quarter the running back Crockett throwing to his quarterback who scores the touchdown on a 16 yard pass. Not too long later, North Dakota State would go on with this run up the middle with Crockett. Western losing 17 to 10. Leathernecks fall to 0-2 in conference play.
